Ripple effect: Expansion of cytogenetic test by using rare cells in venous blood

Isolation of circulating tumor cell: CTC

  • CTC is defined as the metastatic cells which are infiltrated into peripheral blood by BIBseparating from primary tumor tissue or metastasis tumor tissue.

  • The monitoring of CTC leads to judgement of incipient curative effect and to
  • BIBprognostic prediction.
  • CTC detection and their typing reveals a pathological condition of patients by BIBexamining expressed biomarkers or genetic mutation and deletion. Therefore CTC BIBtest presents an optimal medical care according to each patient.
  • The MACS with antibodies to epithelial marker is used for identifying CTC from blood BIBcells.
  • Several researches have reported that metastatic cancer cells enhance the affinity
  • BIBfor galactose/galactosamine-specific lectins, such as SBA or HPA. CTC detection of
  • BIBLectin method enables cytogenetic analysis by using FISH or PCR serially.

Lectin method will be applicable to detection of CTC.

Spread of cytogenetic test

  • Lectin method is a promising technology to precisely isolate erythroblasts including whole fetal genome. Recent technologies for the cytogenetic tests such as Next Generation Sequencer, CGH array Digital PCR, and Split FISH, significantly evolve.
  • When the applicability of these technologies to the isolated rare cells is demonstrated, the opportunity of cytogenetic test is extended.
